Alternative Educational Program (Section 20)
Niagara Training & Employment Agency Inc. and the District School Board of Niagara have a formal agreement to provide an Alternative Educational Program for students aged 10 to 16, who are experiencing difficulties in school as a result of learning disabilities, emotional difficulties, and social interaction barriers. All referrals to the program are made through the District School Board of Niagara. (Students attending Niagara Catholic School Board schools may access the program as well).
The goals of this program are:
- To assist students in developing behaviour that is socially appropriate for the school and working environments
- To assist and encourage students to develop to their fullest potential by promoting and increasing student success and achievement
- To provide an academic program designed specifically to meet individual student needs in an environment that is conducive to learning
- To provide a program that develops attitudes that will ensure future success in transitioning students back to school or the workplace
- To promote and nurture effective communication among home, school and community
- To encourage students to be responsible, dependable, contributing citizens and members of society
- To promote a safe, secure and stimulating environment for all students
